vibrating noise only when first part of hot water is turned on. It is one handle
I fixed a leaky faucet outside and turned off the main water supply. Since then only my shower in house causes a vibrating noise only when the hot water is barely turned on. It is a single handle for the hot and cold water. The handle is used turning counter clockwise only. The first portion is cold with no vibrations then hot with vibrations then scalding with no vibrations again. What may be the problem?

I can get that same vibration in my shower which has an old 2 handle compression faucet. Mine happens at very low hot flow too. If it never occurred for you before, my guess is that you possibly didn't open the main water shutoff valve completely. Check that, and then check the temperature of your hot water supply. If it is above 125 degrees, lower the thermostat setting(s) on your hot water heater. If you have a domestic hot water coil on your furnace, you should get a thermostatic mixing valve installed. In either situation it will save you some water heating costs as a bonus. 'Scalding water' is nothing to mess with. You should be able to shower with almost full flow on the hot water.
