Garage Door Opened On It's Own
I have a quick question about my garage opener. I was sitting home yesterday when I heard my garage open on it's own. I went down stairs no one was there and I did not see anyone on the street. I guess my question is should I be worried? Was this some random thing or was someone driving by trying to see if they could open any door on my street and looking for a house to breeak into. What are my options? I just purchased this house about six months ago and I am pretty sure this is the original garage door opener (house built 1993).

Thanks for your responses in advance!

It may have just been a random thing. In case it wasn't, there should be an easy fix. Open open both the remote and the door receiver. Both should have a row of tiny switches with the same pattern of ons and offs. Simply change a few of them on both. Now, you door should only respond to a remote with the same pattern, and no longer to the old one. Better a fix you don't need, than worrying or having a problem.

That's spooky, but not unheard of. If it's a Sears, I'd go there and see if new remotes can be programed to a different code. Or maybe just your originals. Unless you are the one who installed it, you'll never know how many hands got remotes that work your door.
For now, when you leave the house and close the door, get out and put a piece of clear tape on the door at the side weather strip. If it's torn when you come home, it's been opened!
