Why would a city have a problem with a person raising chickens or other types of small, normally what would be considered to be farm animals, in a city, please?

For me, I really don't see what the problem might be. Especially, if there's not a lot of them on the property.

Because of the noise and smell they cause, and neighbors that complain..
Plus they often at the beginning wanted to prove they were ot the coutry any longer.

For example here, they restrict the number of chickens you can have.

So, are you saying that are chickens allowed to be raised in the city where you are, but just a certain number of them?

Yes, they actually just passed a law last week ( in city above me) to the number allowed.

In my city "Mableton" we are not a incorporated city, so we are actually just considered in the county. You have to laught since I am less than 20 min from downtown Atlanta in a upscale neighborhood, but within a mile of my home are chickens running loose, you see them in the peoples yard when you drive by.

Also I know like in nashville, they were grandfathered in, there are cows within a mile of downtown, since the same land have keep cows on them continious since they banned them. If they ever stop having them, they could not put anymore there, but they can replace them as they come and go.

We just had a ruckus too. I forget what the outcome was. The county and some poor lady that wanted eggs because of health reasons had a few chickens and a rooster. The rooster had to go until they decided something.

What was on the table was you had to have a minimum of 1/2 acre and not deed restricted.

Yes what really always bothered me was the people who moved to the country, I have a few farm places over the years, and in south GA. We have a few pigs ( OK at one time about 300 pigs) but people moved into the area and started complaining about the smell, the pigs were there for years before they ever built a house.
