Not realising travellers cheques were fake and trying to cash them so that the money could be used to hire a car to chauffer the people who sent the money
As long as you pay everyone back for the money you owe them, most likely they will drop all the charges.
*** this is a very very old scam, did they contact you by email or craigs list
I responded to a job advert and then they told me it was to chaffer a family around and gave me all the details. I then got into email conversation with them and suggested that it may be too expensive as I would have to hire a car. However, by now they said that they liked me and wanted someone they could get on with to show them around. As this was only a part time job a few hours a day I did not pay too much attention as I have been concentrating on getting my career sorted and also pass some exams. When I received the cheques I could not see a scam as they did not ask me o send any money so thought it was a abit strange to get travellers cheques but I rang there so called PA and he said that's fine you canjust put into bank. I went to cash them and got arrested.
Normally you don't get caught cashing them, and then it comes to you paying a company they recommend for the car by western union
You were actually lucky to get arrested at that point.
If you merely show them copies of the emails as proof of this
