Hi,
How does ETOH affect atenolol?
Atenolol is a fairly common medication to treat rapid heart rates, also used to control hypertension (high blood pressure). ETOH (etOH) is the abbreviation of ethanol (alcohol) and if you have a rapid heart rate having to be treated with a beta blocker (atenolol) then I would advise, and this is only my opinion, to stay away from alcohol which is a stimulant.
This is not a diagnoses as your underlying medical conditions are not known.

My mother had a stroke in 2008. She was in a rehab center where she was getting physical therapy, howevery the doctor said that she was getting a rapid heart rate. He thought the best way to control this was to give her a dose of her blood pressure medication every time her Systolic pressure went over 100. This was in addition to the regular dose of Atenelol and Coumadin she was getting in the morning. The reason he gave was he was afraid that she would develop a clot and have a heart attack or another stroke. I questioned this because she was getting more and more lethargic. Should atenelol ever be used to lower the systolic bp if the systolic bp goes over 100?
