    Motherboard Fried?
I have an HP dv1000 notebook. I bought it last September, but the warranty is only a year, so it's no longer good, and HP wants 298.00 to fix the problem. So...

I opened up my laptop the other day and turned it on and the blue indicator lights indicating power, and that the hard disk is operating, etc. were all on, but nothing on the display. No sound, nothing. I hooked up an external monitor, so I know it's not the display, plus if it were, I would hear the nice little Windows jingle at start up. Does anyone know what could be the solution, or is there too many things that could be the culprit?

If you can turn the computer on then you did not fry the mother board try this unplug the computer when it is off and then take out the battery from the underside and then pop it back in some times that resets the computers and then plug it back in to see if it works
