I moved in to a new place a month ago.
I moved in to a new place a month ago. The new roommates already had a wireless router set up. When I moved in, I just entered in the (WEP) encryption code and I was connected on both mine and my girlfriend's computers. It's been working great for a month, but now it says that it can not renew the IP address - limited or no connectivity. I'm not sure what I did if anything, but now both my toughbook and my girlfriend's macbook can not connect to the wireless network. My roommate's computer is still able to connect.

C'mon you computer wizards... help an ignorant brother out.

Make sure wireless is not turned off on the laptop. May be a button on the laptop.

Download the free program Net Stumbler and see if your s/n ratio is good.

If you can post the results of ipconfig /all from the cmd prompt.

You can also try from the cmd prompt:

    net start wireless zere configuration

    ipconfig /renew

Make sure your not gettig a 169.254.x.x address assigned to the wireless from ipconfig /all

Make sure the roommates didn't change the WEP key.

    This isn't in any order.
