    Limitations act in ontario debt
I have read some other posts, but don't understand. This is my issue, The 407 has tried to get payment from 1999. I tried to get the amount owed from that year and they would give it to me. They want the whole amount the includes the interest. I haven't talked to them since 2001. I went to register a car in my name and found out that the 407 has a lie on my licence. I got around that by putting one of my children on the registation for the car, but don't understand how they can do that since this debt is that old. I read about the 6 years before 2004 and after 2 years and I understand that the debt can still be collected after that 6 years. My question is can they have a lien on my licence? If not how do I get it off? Is this going to affect when I try to renew my licence?
    Thanks
    Dot

No, they don't have a lien on your licence, why would you think that. How long have you lived in Ontario? Your debt to them will keep on accumulating. Statutes of limitations are not involved here, nottydot. You get it off by paying the fines.

The 407 is owned by a private company. It was bought off the Province to manage several years ago. If the fines are connected to your drivers licence renewal you will find out next time you have to renew; it will be in the DMV computer AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RENEW UNTIL YOU PAY THE FINES. THAT MEANS YOU can't LEGALLY DRIVE BECAUSE YOU WONT HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENCE.

Its people like you that make the costs go up for completely honest people using the 407 and paying for their usage. LIKE ME
