I am currently on H1-B visa. My son (H4 visa) is 3 years old and he came to the US over a year ago. Can I apply a tax ID for him for tax return purposes? Thank you.

Yes, you can claim your son as dependent. You will get child tax credit. Attach W-7 (ITIN application) with your tax return.
