    Hello doug:

    No. You have to evict him through the courts. Once that's completed, you may STORE his property. Only after you have attempted to locate him, may you take possession of his property.

    Send a letter to the address with a 3-10 day (depending on local law) pay or quit notice. Send it with Return Receipt requested. If the letter is returned or not responded to within the time limit, go to court for an eviction order. Show the court that you attempted to contact the tenant and that the property appears to be abandoned.

    The judge should issue an order allowing you to reclaim the property. You may have to store his belongings for a period as excon mentioned.
