Howdy and welcome to AMHD:
Which operating system are you going to install?
What are you using to fdisk with?
Murray
Windows ME is my operating system.
Well, you answered one part of my reply..Quote:

It's a master drive
I do not understand your second question.

Are you booting thew computer using a WinME boot floppy?

Okay..
When you boot using the floppy and get to a:\ prompt, are you typing in fdisk ?
Once there, are you then using the option to set a Primary DOS partition?
BTW, I don't live in AMHD so I am NOT always here to get your reply right away!
Nor is anyone else for that matter!

Yes, it's the option number 1
Is that when you get the error message?
Murray
Yes.
Okay..
I want you to go to www.bootdisk.com and download the file to make a new WinME startup floppy..
Once you have it downloaded, put a clean formatted floppy in your a: drive..
Next, double click the file you downloaded and let it extract the necessary files to the floppy..
Once everything has copied over, use THAT new floppy to boot and fdisk with!

Shut off your virus detection in your BIOS; I ONLY recommend this if you really know what you are doing and looking for, that may help with the error but I suggest leaving that as a last resort.
