I have installed a hampton bay fan and it doesn't work. I have checked and rechecked the wiring and it is wired as suggested, from the fan, black and blue to black, white to white and green to green. I checked to see if the is power to the fan and there is, there is also power to the light kit but when the switch is flipped nothing happens, I have pulled the chains to make sure they are on and nothing is happening.

Check to make sure the reverse switch is firmly in the up or down position.. . However this won't affect the light.

Neither the light nor fan works.
The fan has 3 wires and pullchains, no remote.

No remote and yes I have checked the power at the box and at the light for the fan connection and it shows having 120v, I assembled the whole thing and flipped the on/off switch pulled the chains and checked the reverse switch and it doesn't seem to matter, this is the second fan I have tried, figured the first had a bad motor but can't imagine I'd be 2 for 2 on bad motors

Also the fan has 4 wires(black,blue,white,green) the house has 3 wires(black,white,bare)

Right, I never count the ground.

What I would do is take the fan down and "bench test" it to confirm that it works. That is, set the motor up without the blades, put a light bulb in, and wire it to an extension cord or outlet that you know works. If it still doesn't work, yeah there's a problem with the fan.

I find it hard to believe both the fan and light would not work and there is 120vAC supply, because the light is more or less it's own circuit, except for the neutral. Check the wire connections at the light kit and in the fan switch housing and be sure all the white wires are solidly connected.

Thanks, I'll give it a try, I know I hooked it all up got nothing, pulled apart the fan to light connector and tested it and it should have 120v in the connector, I'll recheck all my connections again and try it one more time and if nothing I'll try the bench test. Thanks for the help.

Sorry, it did have 120v at the connector

If you measure 120vAC where the light connects, there's no reason the light shouldn't work unless it has a bad bulb.

One of us is missing something.
