    Getting parental rights back
I have a question if anyone can help, My son gave up is parental rights for his son and the step-father adopted him now they are divorcing, so can a parent (my son) get his rights back and shouldn't they not be able to receive SSI if they adopted him because that's what is happening, she is receiveing I'm not sure if it is SSI or SSDI, my son gets SSDI and now she is receiving it for my grandson, we live in New Mexico and were just wondering if he can get his parental rights back.

First, it's not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's question. I've moved your question to it's own thread, and also moved it from adoption to family law so that you can get more pertinent answers to your question.

Secondly--relinquishing parental rights is forever. So is adoption.

The only way I can see your son getting rights back is if the stepfather relinquishes HIS rights, and your son is able to adopt. That doesn't seem likely, though.

I would suggest that your son talk to a lawyer. I doubt there is much he can do, but only a lawyer in your area would know for SURE what steps to take.
