Fireplace door leaking cold winter air.
We don't use our fireplace at all. However, the fireplace door is leaking cold winter air coming down the chimney. What can I use/do to seal the openings along the hinges?

    Thanks,
    K

Close off the chimny then make or buy a insulated cover for the face of the fireplace doors. The cover was installed after closing off the chimny in a tight fashion (packed the chimny area with insulation). Then used plastic and good quality tape to attach it to the openings in the doors to seal them tight. Then installed the insulated cover my wife made. That fireplace area is now warm as the rest of the house.
