Water leaking through electric light in ceiling
Due to heavy rain there is water dripping from a light in the ceiling. Is there anything I need to do? Can this cause a fire? Thank you.

The water may short out the circuit, but you will be surprised, that often it does not.

Keep the light off until the leak is fixed, take off any globe or lens to allow water to drain.

The fixture will dry out and may be useable later, but may need to be replaced if any metal parts, such as the lamp socket, corrode.
