Why are women always so catty towards young girls?
Answer this seriously please. Why are women always so catty and nasty towards young girls? Why do we get the nasty glares and snippy comments when we're out laughing and having fun. Women always seem to be especially catty when girls seems to be attractive, happy and enjoying life. Is it because women hate to be reminded of their own carefree youth, their fading beauty and the wonderful feeling of being in love for the first time? Why are women this way? I don't think men are this way, which is why I like them more.

No, women get catty when girls are not being polite and laughing loud and being disruptive.
When you are having a good laugh at a joke you don't always realise how loud you are being.
I don't look at girls thinking they look attractive and am jealous, I look at the and think "my mom wouldn't have let me out of the house wearing that!"
And as for the first love, I prefer the feeling of security than the 'thrill' of dating.

Is this something that happens to you a lot?

Yeah, it happens to me and my friends a lot. It happens to a lot of teen aged girls, but not because we're being loud or dressing inappropriately. It's because adult women want to be the focus that they once were 10/15/20 years ago. When a teen age girl walks in to a room with out even saying a word the women will want to bite her head off if there's male attention around.

Maybe some older women are jealous or just want a quite drink, perhaps your right,if there getting the male attention then the young women come in and off the guys go...

For me I like going out with the girls, and just having a laugh,it does not bother us if there are young people around, although we do tend to steer clear of the younger scene.

There's many pros and cons of mature and younger women and men...

If I were you,I would just enjoy the night and don't let it bother you.

We are entering the age of the Cougar, lots more older women are competing with younger girls for men!

Just brush off any nasty comments or stares. Unless you are actually doing something to annoy them then it's no fault of yours.

I just wanted to say... I remember being there... I can definitely relate to where you are coming from being young and attractive. See... being an adult you start to realize your faults being young. Being naïve, stupid, irresponsible (responsibility will come with time) and maturity (someone mentioned being disruptive). It isn't that you are ANY of these things - it is just our personal experience and possibly judging from those grounds.

"If we only knew THEN what we knew NOW"

It's about a lot of things; it could be emotional, physical, mental or psychological issues. For instance, I look at my niece... she is far from your maturity and makes a lot of really bad choices (which we all do to learn - growth reasons) and we wish we didn't. It could be competition for men (I hardly doubt it - as it is said "If you can not be happy alone - how can you be happy with someone else? - You must be happy alone before you are ready for someone else... you can not rely on anyone for your happiness but yourself) but it has a lot to do with personal growth and recognizing it. Young girls have a lot to evolve and even the middle aged woman with children will be judged by the older more retired woman... to the elderly and so on. We all have a lot of opinions and experiences... ensure that you are living your life for you and are happy. I being 27 with two beautiful children (still attractive and try to be) still get judged no more then you by other women. Above and beyond everyone else generalizations/stereotypes - grow beyond it and recognize your strengths and what you have to offer the world... leaving the judgments and criticism behind!

    Maturity has no age!!

Don't worry, as you get older, your wish will come true.

You do: your not perfect either... a lot of us have been there and I don't idolize anyone still... maybe your like me and you CHOOSE to do the RIGHT thing. Be true to yourself and you won't need an idol - you will remarkably be one for your peers and those younger... possibly those older who wish they did things differently.

Er, what? Sheesh, I'm 'middle aged' and I don't feel like that about teenage girls.

Yes, it would be lovely to be young and fresh once more, but hell, I'm not. Doesn't mean that I don't like myself or that I hate teenage girls though.

Sure, men will look at something that is young, fresh and female - but it's just flesh to most of them. They may look (and lust), but how many do anything about it? They still go home with their wives who are 10/15/20 years older.

There are always going to be jealous catty people around. I don't think it has so much to do with age as it has to do with confidence.

I find some younger people annoying. Not because of their looks or the attention that men pay them. It's the disrespect for older people, the sheer stupidity that some of them show. It's the chat speak, the crude language, the cockiness. I find it very disrespectful and I don't put up with it.

I was taught to be polite to people, to respect older people, to behave in public, to not act like and idiot or a tramp. I find that more and more younger girls today are only thinking about sex, about getting a guy, dressing sexy, talking like a hooker. Look at some of the posts on this site and you'll see what I'm talking about. Most of them don't seem to have the brains God gave a goat.

That's my take on it. No, I'm not saying that you're one of the girls I'm talking about. I know that not all teens are like this, just like I know not all women are like the ones you described. ;)
