There is a woman that I work with that is trying to get me fired. She watches security tapes of my shift to try to catch me doing something wrong. She has set me up with problems that she knows I have no knowledge of how to fix. She makes up lies about me that my boss listens to. She offers me no help to me as a co-worker should.
Im at my wits end! I don't know why she hates me so much. Do you have any ideas on how to deal with this? Words of wisdom?

If you really have no idea why she is doing this and it is obvious that it is happening... why don't you just ask her why she is doing these things.

Will she deny them? Not if everyone knows what she is doing.

Some people are just unhappy. Ask her why.:)

I just got a similar answer from my very wise 75yr old Mom. I just hope I can keep my cool. I tend to get upset very quickly...
This woman is married to an abusive man. I had once offered her comfort and support until I realized she was intent on staying with him.
She also had to work her way up in this job. I, on the other hand, moved up quite quickly.
Ive never really known how to handle people that are jealous. I don't have much of that green eyed monster in me. I know better than to accuse her of this. She would use that to slander me even more. Ugh!

I wouldn't confront this person. If she's nasty, jealous and vindictive the worse thing you can do is ask her why she behaves this way. (Sorry just Dahlia!) It will just put her on the defense and you'll be in a worse position with her.

If this is upsetting you, the worse thing you can do is talk to her and get emotional. Then she'll know that she's really got you.

Instead I'd talk to the boss. This is a workplace relationship issue which is affecting your work, and you're being given work that you can't do. It's up to management to deal with it, not you.

Keep it at the professional, not the personal level, and let him know that you're having difficulty doing the work. While you're there you might ask if he/she has any problems with your work output or your behavior as you know the security tapes are being checked. Let them know that you're doing your best and that you'd like to do better if there are any problems with your work. See what they say.

Record in writing any of the lies that she says about you keep your nose clean for the security tapes. It's head down bum up with this sort of person. Be squeaky clean, and keep your reactions to her vindictive behavior to yourself until you catch her out in a lie. Eventually she will shoot herself in the foot.

Is it her job to review security footage? I hope not, because when you talk to the boss, you can indicate how much of her "work time" is spent doing something wasteful.
