I have a Bryant Plus 90t Furnace installed in 2007 and the Flame Sensor keeps getting corroded it had to be cleaned three times since installed in 2007 I have no heat until it is cleaned. My question is why does it keep getting corroded.

Something in the air in your home or a possible recirculation of the outside exhaust back into the intake. Check your install instructions for the recirculate problem or call the installer who did the work. In the mean time clean the flame sensor.

Last year I was told it was the routing of the intake and exhaust so it was changed, the intake is nowhere near the exhaust now but I still have the problem of the Flame Sensor corroding.

Nick it could be something in the air at the location near the furnace. Hair spray,laundry products especially dryer sheets and other items can cause the problem you are having. Now to be honest dirty flame sensors are probably 50 to 60 percent of service calls on the newer furnaces.

Thank You for your help, I thought all the air came from outside into the intake pipe, I have a really good filter on the furnace.

The discharge flue gas can be returned to the intake without proper spacing causing the problem with the flame sensor getting a coating that will not allow it to work properly.

Just curious,have they ever replaced the flame sensor? Is your intake near a dryer vent or any chemicals at all,hot tub pool etc? I have seen this a few times, normally it happens when combustion air is drawn from the basement.

The Flame sensor was never replaced just cleaned and the intake and the exhaust are clear of everything outside, but we do use spray air fresheners in the basement that could be sucked into the furnace.

I'd replace the flame sensor for sure to start. Spraying air freshners shouldn't matter if the system is direct vent,it's drawing combustion air from outside.

Thank You for all your help I will have the Flame Sensor replaced the next time I have a problem.

The system does not drain all the water from the pump shroud that exhausts the flue gas. This is a known Bryant design error. After 4 service call in1 10 months (last one shows up with a bad part... )
I am looking for a new manufacturer, after this unit is removed.

Contact a REAL Bryant service company and have them check the service bulletins for this unit. I believe there is a cure for this situation.
