How to lighten black hair to chocolate brown
My hair is naturally medium brown. I wanted a dark chocolate brown so I died my hair using a 3N and it turned out black. Can I dye it again to get it to chocolate brown? What should I use? It has been a little over a week since I died it last.

    Questions:

    1. Was it dyed before or virgin?
    2. If it was dyed, what is the natural color?

You can't dye darker hair with a lighter dye and expect it to lighten. It won't. You'll probably need to use color remover first, then re-dye with a lighter dye. I suspect that your hair was not virgin.

I would go to a hairdresser and have her do a couple different colors in foil then really think about which color you like. Black is way to harsh unless your really young and have blue eyes I have chocolate brown hair with subtle red sun kissed sort of highlights I receive lots of compliments on this color So think about what you want and pay a professional to do it. Sometimes they have specials so you can save some money
