I have a single handle shower that I can get cold water but no hot water the sink in the bathroom gets both

It sounds like you have some mineral build up that came out of the water heater or off the pipe walls and is now blocking the inlet ports of the cartridge. To tell you more I would have to have the brand name of the tub/shower valve and its approximate age. Regards, Tom
