    Closed septic
What exactly is it? We looked at a house that had a "double closed septic system" - does this mean it has no drainfield, that everything that comes out of the house is held in a tank, including water from washing, etc? The county "thinks" that part of the yard is in a flood zone. A creek runs next to the property. My thought was that the property did not pass a perc test because of this.

Here is a image of a double closed septic system. It has a drainfield and operates as a regular septic system. Has the county a problem with this system? Back to you. Tom

Hey Tom - Thanks for this diagram! This is a house that was a foreclosure and anyway, we wound up not buying it. And yes, there were in fact two cleanout covers in the backyard. Have a great holiday! *jimmy

Probably a good idea to not buy. All septics have a field and the county would have required a perc test before issuing an occupancy permit. If you look at more homes with septic you should require that they pass an inspection by a professional of your choosing.
