Hard steel brake line repair. The leak (rust) is just under the driver door. I don't have a lift. Can I do this on my own. What type of brake line is easiest to work with? Tools? Is it worth it?
Tools? Mostly common hand tools but you will need to obtain proper bends: the line should NOT be spliced, but should run from fitting to fitting.
Line? Standard brake pipe should be available at your local parts store.
Can you? If you can gain access to the fittings and find that they aren't also excessively corroded.
Worth it? It nearly always less expensive to repair your car rather than replace your car.
A thorough inspection to make certain you don't have other rust/corrosion issues elsewhere on the vehicle would be prudent. That way you will only need to flush/bleed the system once.
Buy a KD Tools 14-piece Master Tubing Service Set and learn how to make double-flare joints (fun). You also need to be able to place your car on jack stands. Use metric flare wrenches on all fittings. Not a difficult job.
