Hampton bay with light fan installation
I am putting up an unpackaged fan with a light on it. The person who bought it accidentally bought an outdoor fan. This fan comes with a blue, black, green, and white wire. The house has red, black, white, and ground. If I connect the fan black on wall black and white on white the fan comes on but the light will not. I also put the blue with the black and every other combo I could think of with no success. How do I wire the light?

"The house has red, black, white, and ground." so you do have two switches controlling the ceiling box, right?

Correct. The fan is supposed to be controlled by a remote wich is wired like a wall switch but you can by pass that and the fan and light will just be on all the time when the switch is on. But I can't make the light work. I also looked at the wires being used for the actual light switches and only the black and the red are being used, not the white.

White is the neutral, you do not have a circuit if the white is not connected, can't work. If you have a remote switch then you have a transmiter and an receiver in the fan. You could have a bad transmiter or receiver in this situation. How are you doing this "but you can by pass that and the fan and light "

    Black - black
    Blue - red
    White - white
    Ground - ground

    NORMALLY works.
