    Mouse keeps going off
My mouse on my laptop (connected via usb cable) keeps going off, when I unplug the usb from its port on laptop and plug it back in it works again for a while (sometimes long sometimes short while). It the fault with my usb port on my lap top or is it my mouse that's faulty?

Have you tried another usb port on the laptop to see if same thing happens?

Do you have access to another mouse to see if it would also happen?

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

    What OS?

I have just swapped my two usb ports over ( so far so good) I haven't made any changes to my lap top.

Check the Device manage under USB controllers and make sure the "Allow the computer to turn off the device to conserve power is unchecked"

    For Xp:

    Control panels/performance and maintenence/System/Hardware/Device Manager/

    Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers

Then select each USB Root hub and select the Power Management Tab.

Clueless for Windows & and Vista.
