What are the chances of my boyfriend getting sheriff parole?
My boyfriend has a sheriffs parole hearing on Thursday. He doesn't have a criminal background until when he is in now for false imprisonment. He has a place to live, a job & a solid plan. I don't know anything about sheriffs parole & what happens. Can you help me? Thanks.

I forgot to add, it's a new thing they have where inmates can get out early if they make sheriffs parole. He is in jail not prison. I hope you can help me find the answer. Thanks.

    Hello l:

There's no way for us to assess his chances... But, you can IMPROVE them by hiring a good lawyer for him.

OK thanks. I just have to wait & see what happens. We both can't afford a lawyer.

    Hello again, l:

I have no idea. All I know is anything you want from them, they don't want to give. Hence, my advice to get a lawyer..

However, if I were to guess, it appears to be some sort of probation from a jail sentence. The conditions are probably to stay employed or in school, don't do drugs, don't get arrested, and report regularly.

There has to be somebody you can call about it, though. Ask your boyfriend WHO is conducting his hearing. Then call 'em up and ask.

I guessed that as well. I thought someone who went through this situation might exactly what goes on. I have prepaid legal services & they didn't know what that was. Weird. Its something new that is what he said.

It is local jails that are over crowded and under funded, the sheriff department when the judge sentences them to so many months in jail ( less than a year sentence) So the jails to open bed space up, are looking at non violent offenders often to allow them to be on "parole" from the jail.

**This is my understanding from the little web search I was doing.

It works like the prison parole basically but is handed by the sheriff department.
