    Theft over $5000
Hello, I am in need of a lot of help. I have just graduated high school. And I just turned 18 3 months ago. And I am taking a year off. I do not know why I did it but I was shoplifting from the company I work with. They said that have it all on tape. I don't know what or how much they have on tape. But I have been taking stuff for 2 months. Ive been with that company for about 5 months. The total charges will end up being over $5000. I am sure of it. I was very helpful with it all. I have Most of the merchandise still in its packaging. Which I have to give in to the police. My court date is in January. What do I do! How do I handle this situation and what can happen to me? I have never done anything like this before. Don't have any records or anything with the police. Please Help Me. Thanks .

    Hello n:

Don't talk to the cops anymore. IF they want to talk to you, ask for a lawyer. They'll give you one. Do what he says.

Yes from a legal standpoint about the worst thing you did was to help them or give them any info, ( esp if your attorney had not worked out a deal)

The police are not your friends and are not there to help you. They are there to make an arrest and get a conviction.

But they said they had the times on tape. I don't know what times or if all though. Should I just talk to a lawyer? What's my options once its my court date?

You don't know what they had or did not have on tape, ( guess what they are allowed to lie to you to get you to confess) An attorney would have required them to produce the evidence to see if they had anything at all.

You plead not guilty, and get an attorney at this point
