Well, anyone can pray to the Lord-in fact,JESUS himself said no one can come to the FATHER except through ME(jesus).don't make praying legalistic,no other name but the name of Jesus can you reach the Father! If you are a christian, talk to the Father through Jesus in prayer just as yourself, there is no formula!this world and religion needs to go back to the basic, the Son,and his name only-

How do you think a Jew prays? What do you think would be different? Why is this important to you?

So Roland are you going to avoid mentioning Jesus? To pray like a Jew you will have to focus only on Father God. It would seem to be a paradox to be a Catholic and pray like a Jew and yet..

Could you define "Pray like a Jew"?

I often pray with Jews at various interfaith events. In respect I merely pray to the Father God.

They have many "stock" prayers that are very pretty.

    Hello Roland:

As a Jew, I don't mind. We're pretty open about stuff like that. Besides, whose business is it HOW you pray??

The above, of course, is the Jewish perspective... Clearly, there are Catholics who would have trouble with your doing so... They don't seem to mind telling people HOW to live their lives.

If you're asking whether God is going to mind, I'd say no. Certainly, I don't believe in God, but when I did, MY God was a pretty cool guy. He isn't the fire and brimstone God you guys worship. My God had a sense of humor and didn't make demands upon you, other than the ten we know about. He wouldn't have minded HOW you contacted him, just as long as you did.

As a matter of fact, every single Sunday of my last year of religious school, we went to a different church and prayed like they did. It was the GREATEST religious education I could have gotten.

Clearly? Wow, that's a pretty broad swipe there, excon. Just as clearly, there are Jews who would have the same trouble.

Jews and Catholics (and Muslims and Druids and every other flavor) have dotty extremists who don't mind telling people HOW to live their lives - is it only Catholics?

I read this more as "clearly, there ARE Catholics" as opposed to all Catholics...

Did you read my reply the same way?

No, I thought you said excon took a very broad swipe at all Catholics. I don't think that was his intention.

excon says exactly what he means and if he would have meant "all Catholics" he would have said so.
