Why trane xe 1000 still running after turn off the heater
Hello I have a Trane XE 1000 and yesterday I heard it running when the inside unit was off, I turned everything off inside and the fan in the outside unit continued to run, then I turned the break next to the unit off and finally the fan turned off. Then I turned the break on and it still continued running. After 15-20 min. passed it turned off, then it was OK. After 24 hours passed the same thing happened again. Not sure if the outside unit is overheating and maybe that is why the fan continues on. The heat inside the house is fine, if it wasn't for the fan noise we would have noticed. Help...

Could be a sticking contactor in the outside unit.

Thank you for the info, also I found a contactor but it is CTR0516 40 Amp/2 Pole/24V coil instead of CTR0516 30 Amp/2 Pole/24V coil. Can I purchase the 40 amp even though the manual says 30 amp?

Does the existing contactor look like this (burned/pitted/stuck contacts)? The 40 amp rating exceeds the requirement for your unit, so that would actually be a sturdier choice than the original.

Yes you can always use a bigger current rate contactor as long as the coil voltage is maintained at 24 volts. In fact the contacts being rated higher on the 40 amp part should out last the 30 amp one since the contacts are rated higher.
