    Thankful for what we have
I guess we all at times look at what others have, or see the ads on TV this time of year, so it often takes a wake up call.

As most know I recently got married and in doing we went today to move all of Toni's things into our home ( did not say my house any more)

Well of course she had two bedrrom suites and I had three. So really did not need off them in a four bedroom house. Esp when one bedroom is a martial arts room.

So with two of so much we rented a storage room till we can take more time and go though everything. Well I had a bed, it was a good bed one of those "space foam" mattress with box springs and frame. Well I was just going to put it into storage when I meet a person there getting some items from someone else, They were some of the people flooded out last month, They had nothing, no bed, no dining table, really nothing.
They were almost beside thierself for this bed I gave them. At the end of the day it makes one have to remember that no matter how bad we think we are, there are always those more in need.

    Great thread Chuck.

It's so very true. There are so many times that we gripe about the things going wrong in our lives, but there is always someone out there that has it worse then we do.

I am thankful for so many things. My husband, my kids, my friends, this site, all of you.

There are so many times that you all have kept me sane. I am so thankful that you're all in my life.

    Group hug? :)

I can't afford to give much, ever, but we do buy a toy for Santa's anonymous every year. The kids pick out one for a girl and one for a boy. :)

We used to deliver the presents but they changed the program a while back. They only deliver on two days and every year it seems that those days are days that R works or there's school or something else.

In years past the did it 7 days a week for a month before Xmas.

I wish I could do more.

Chuck, you're a sweetie. I think it's a great thing that you did this.

    Hugs to you.

Many congratulations on your marriage.I wish you both good health and happiness.

Yes I know what you mean, when you say... there is always someone worse off than ourselves...

Only today I was looking round at my house thinking my stuffs really old and desparately needs replacing,if only I could win just a little bit on the lottery, just to get the bills in order and maybe replace the sofa that's falling to bits, then I felt a bit ashamed of myself... at least I have a place to live out of the cold and rain, unlike those poor people in Cumbria who have lost everything.Ifeel for them all and bless them in my prayers.

I try to do my very best to help everyone even if it's only a small thing, like a bit of shopping or just listen if they need a friend or a shoulder to cry on for a bit.

What surprised me the other day whilst visiting the local tip, was the items that were being literally thrown away.
e.g... a leather three piece suite, absolutely nothing wrong with it,the lady said they had redecorated and it didn't go with her décor, the colour was wrong apparently.

Well I couldn't believe it, it would have served a family for several years more.
The sad thing is, that thought hadn't occurred to her.

Most of my stuff is second hand and I'm so grateful for it, what a shame others don't think to ask before throwing things away.
What might be rubbish to them, may be a god send to the people in need.

On a lighter note... I saw my first robin today sat on my garden fence singing his little heart out, absolutely beautiful...

    And free

    Blessings

We have a similar thing here, there's a tree that you wrap up presents to put under and stick a tag to them that says either boy or girl and what age group.
They go to various charities around the city.

A lot of the stuff we have here is donated by friends and family... granted we do have some expensive things we bought ourselves (television, playstation etc) but a lot of the furniture is either secondhand or from a discount store. We were very grateful for that. When we moved into our house and plan to give the furniture away to others when we buy new things ourselves.
