Sir/Madam,
Please highlight me regarding the following -
* when a force is applied on a sphere resting on a plane, initially it slides, and then it starts rolling - how long it slides and how long it rolls! Condition for Sliding and Rolling!
* if the force is not directly through the centre of the sphere then a component of the force tends to create a spin on the sphere. The sphere tends to traverse in a curvilinear path. What would be the equation of the path and how it is affected by the spin!
* what would be the combined effect of rolling and spining of the sphere! How to express it!
* when force is applied some where below(/above) the centre of the sphere, it may jump up from the plane - but under what circumstances it happens! How to describe its path! OR under what circumstances the z-axis movement of the sphere is affected and by what amount!
* for linear motion we need to overcome static frictional force, and then we have kinetic frictional force in action.
For rolling motion - what would be the factors if any!
Hope, I have made myself clear. Any further enquiery is always welcome...
Regards -
Souvik
