Iwant to replace my cleanout on 4"" stack with a WYE so I can have a place to discharge my washing machine.
Someone told me to use 4X2'' WYE that can give me an opening to the stack(for discharge of washing machine) and a cleanout too.
Question: what is 4X2'' WYE and how does it look like?

Are you suggesting that you want to remove a cleanout fitting entirely and replace with the 4"x2"wye fitting or do you want to remove a cleanout cap/plug and connect into the threaded part of the cleanout?

It is not legal to swap out a fitting for a cleanout... although you can install a new 4"x2" wye fitting above/below the cleanout.

In terms of connecting into a threaded cleanout connection, this is also frowned upon, except that you may be able to install a threaded adapter into the threaded part of the cleanout, install that 4"x2" wye and then install a new 4" end cleanout. I think this is what you are asking about and if so... then you should be fine with this.

What material are your pipes made from?

Finally, you will also need a vent for this new washing machine waste line. That vent can be piped up and connect into a vent from another fixture in the basement or into a vent upstairs. Otherwise, you may be able to install a mechanical vent (also called an AAV). Let us know more. AAVs are not legal everywhere.

PS The drawing below shows how someone would pipe for a washing machine using an AAV and a PTRAP. The standpipe coming out of the trap can be between 18" and 36" (drawing shows 30"). There is a cleanout installed on the washer drain line... called a test tee or a dandy cleanout... install this cleanout. Ignore the sink piping.

"Y" fitting looks like letter Y. See it in the middle of the enclosed photo.
