The handle has little to do with the flushing action which starts when the flapper is lifted by the handle. Does the flapper drop too quickly? How is your flushing action, good?

A flapper should have a small charge of air trapped inside the funnel shaped containment of the flapper. Push the handle down and reach inside the tank to hold the flapper up out of the water as the water level drops, this will recharge the right amount of air. If this still drops too fast just buy a new flapper for about $3, they do make a flapper that has an adjustment to give more or less flush.
