What does FDCPA in Ontarion Canada state?
Hello My name is Siobhan and I have a law question!
Does anyone know what the FDCPA in Ontario Canada states when it comes to 3erd Party collections calling your home? I had an incedent yesterday where My husband was rude to a collector that was trying to reach me and he continusly called and called back every 5secconds so he could speak with My husband when the real issue of why they were calling was to do with me! He had to at least called my house in a span of 5mins until I got sick of it and answerd the phone at that point... I did not wish to speak with them as I was real busy with my daughter and was going to call them back, but they were presistant and I had enough and lost it! So what are my options if I can report the harassment who do I speak with, and what does the law state?
    Thank you
    Siobhan!

It doesn't become harassment until you tell the person calling not to call any longer - and they do. Screaming back and forth at each other does not constitute harassment.

As a debt collector I think its funny as hell that there was no screaming and it wasn't harassment when money or goods is loaned but it is when repayment is requested... YOU agree to all of this when u borrowed money. It's a LOAN not a gift. Get over it and pay what you owe!

And I think it's funny that you didn't notice this question was asked in 2009 and the thread has been dead since that time.

Legally you are incorrect - screaming isn't the only form of harassment.

Per the FDCPA harassment can only be defined my an attorney. However, you are correct I didn't notice this dead thread BUT it changes nothing. Consumers seem to feel as if asking for monies owed is harassment. If people think this is true they should pay for everything in cash.
