I live in davie Florida and I can't find the water shut off valve in my house.do some houses not have them.how can I locate it if I do have one

Most likely the main water shutoff will be in a curbbox or something similar to that outside the building.

To determine the exact location, give a quick call over to your local water supplier... they should know almost exactly how to guide you to the box.
