I owe according to the credit card company $7730.00 in debt and they had their attorney summons me. I do not know what to do? I have 10 days to respond.

Are you saying you got a summons with a court date? You stated that according to the cc compamy you owe $7730. Don't you know what you owe? If you have not made payments then someof this is late fees etc. Please explain a little more so that we can better help you

I do not know the exact amount I owe. I have not paid on this since 03/09. I lost a second job and unable to pay. I called at first and was inform that they were going to charge 26% interest and would not settle with a payment plan so I did not pay. Now I got this summons and need to answer it. I was told to file a letter for recovery but can not find a sample.
