    Transmission problems
Im having problems with my 1993 ford explorer , when I start it and shift into gear either drive or reverse , there is a jump like it is going into gear to hard . Once it warms up it goes away . I just changed the vacuum modulator thinking that was it ,but it still does it . Can anyone give me some advice on what to do now...

Have you been dropping and cleaning the pan, changing the filter, and replacing the fluid every 30,000 miles?

No I haven't, if I change the filter do you think this will fix my problem

There aren't too many things the average do-it-yourselfer can do to maintain transmissions. This is a relatively easy and very important procedure to perform. I've seen it make a HUGE difference in how transmissions perform. If the vehicle is worth repairing, consider using Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.

This link may motivate you to completely change all of the transmission fluid and really do it right:

From afar, I can't say that this will fix your problem but it's worth the effort anyway. Shifting (upshifts and down shifts) tend to improve dramatically with synthetic ATF. Plus, cold weather performance and gas mileage improve markedly.
