98 GMC TRUCK 4.3 STARTING PROBLEM. Hello I enjoy your web site and have found it very helpful. My truck has been taking longer than normal to start. I do allow the pump to run and also am aware of energising the fuel rail with the switch on. Milage is 90k. I recently replaced the intake gasket and the catalitic converter. Unrelated. When I turn over the engine it initially tries to start then just turns over, it also starts to backfire into the breather. Starting fluid just makes the backfiring worse.Ihave tried the accelerator partially down and all the way down, the latter cayses backfire. Any suggestions? Thanks, Skip

. Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM). $70 at O'Reilly Auto Parts (Master Pro CBE122). Easy job.
