    Health Care Vote
As I read the news I saw the vote was 60 to 39. Is there not 100 votes, who did not vote or why are we one vote short

Not that I know a lot about the US you know, it's hard to keep up from half a world away, but didn't a dude named kennedy die recently? And wasn't this considered such an earth shattering event they broadcast the funeral to the world? Now you have blown all my illusions and tell me that this was just another media joke and this dude was unknown at home?

    Hello Padre:

George Voinovich, R Ohio, didn't vote. I'm trying to find out why.

He is opposed to the bill . His office released a lame statement .
He will not support Sen. Reid's proposed health care bill for the reason that it is not what American people are asking for. So he will not vote for the motion to go ahead.
Not that his vote would've made a difference but if he opposed it he should've cast a vote. This makes it appear that his vote is up for negotiation like Landrieu's was.

    Hello:

Ok, this is our NEW health care thread... Cool...

I don't think it will pass. The Dems are lame, and Obama is asleep at the wheel.

Don't put it past Reid to get the bill passed as a budget reconciliation bill. But as of right now he could not get it passed under standard Senate rules.

    Hello again, tom:

By the time the public option gets watered down further, and the Stupak Amendment stays, and it winds up being a gift to the insurance industry, the lefty's will abandon it along with most women.

They lost their chance. Do I think it's a wonderful bill? No.

If Reid tries to do it through reconciliation, the Dems are done, and Sarah has a shot in 2012.
