How long do you have to recover money through civil proceedings.
I have a case of theft from my employer that I was convicted of in 2005, however the results were not satisfactory to my employer. I was advised that he could yet take civil action against me. Could you advise me as to how long he has to file civil litigaton. I plead guilty to the criminal charges and was sentenced to probation and house arrest, I believe that he has hopes of recovering his money through the civil proceedings. How long does he have to file?

It will vary by state, but an example is CA, the statute of limitations for civil action for 'injury to property' and 'fraud' is 3 years.
