    Unable to pay rent
How long can I live in my apartment before they can kick me out?

    Hello g:

It depends. If your landlord is efficient, and if the courts are efficient, maybe 3 weeks.

Generally, if you are late on your rent, the landlord can issue a 3-10 day pay or quit notice (the number of days depends on local law). If you don't pay in full by the deadline, the landlord then files for an eviction notice. A hearing is then scheduled. Again, depending on local law and conditions, this hearing can be scheduled anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. At the hearing, if you don't pay in full, and eviction order is issued. You are giving a few days (no more than 10) to vacate. At that point the sheriff comes and moves you out.

Have you ever heard the phrase biting the hand that feeds you? You posted a question asking for information. You got that information. In addition, Chuck offered additional help by suggesting ways to get help with paying your rent. Though the suggestions were phrased as questions (I often do the same thing) they provided suggestions for you.

Your response was rude and unnecessary. As well as a violation of this sites rules.

Again, no answer. If you don't have the answer, don't respond. I know I can go elsewhere for help, but thought this forum would be my source for a quick answer. Love it

Excuse me, but that is NOT the way this SITE (or most sites like this) work. You do not dictate who can or can't answer a post. Once you post you open yourself up to any comments ANYONE wants to make about your post. If you feel a response was inappropriate you can report it. If you didn't like the advice, you can ignore. If you feel the advice was inaccurate, then point out why.

But, as long as the response does not violate our rules then you have no say about whether the poster can post it. Again, I find your responses to people who tried to help you to be rude and offensive. I'm glad you found my first response helpful, but your attitude here leaves a lot to be desired. Any further rudeness on your part will be removed.
