Low Water Level in Toilet BUT rises high when flushing.
I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but I couldn't seem to find an answer to what I was looking for -- or that I didn't seem to understand:

My toilet, one morning, suddenly had a low water level in the bowl.

In the tank I noticed that the water is at the brim of the overflow tube.

Another thing, when it flushes, the water level in the bowl rises pretty high to the point of worry, but goes back down. I'd say it rises an inch below the rim of the toilet bowl itself.

Just wondering how to get the levels back to normal and if there's any way to prevent this from happening again.

    Thank you very much.

Lower the tank level to 1/2" below the overflow tube. Check to see if the little tube that runs from the ballcock to the overflow tube is attached. Do you get a good flush or does the water simply raise up high, swirl around and slowly go down leaving solids behind? Let me know, Tom

When flushing, it rises high, swirls and goes down slow.
And the tube is definitely attached.

But I'm not sure how to lower the tank level. Sorry, but could you explain how since
I can't find any sources online.

    Thank you.
