Humaniarian grounds to stay in canada
My common law husband extended his visit here in canada .he felt he could rightly do so as his biological father is canadian .he was with his dad for a year before he passed away .his mother was legally married to another man at the time so her husbands name appears on his birth certificate in nyc .we are about to be married but due to his past criminality he would need to go back to the you s a for at least 5 years from what I am reading... would our marriage and the fact his dad was canadian and that we are raising our 3 canadian grandchildren and run a group home for 18 mentally handicapped adults give him any way to stay on humanitarian and compassionate grounds

Sorry but legally his dad is who is on the birth certificate, and it may be hard to even prove the other. You will need an immigration attorney but depending on the criminal history, it may not be a good answer.
