Claiming a college student on your taxes
Ok hello first time so bear with me please

Just wondering for future reference when my son goes off the college is there a certain amount of money that if he goes over that I can not claim him?? Or maybe better stated how much does my college student son have to make to do his own taxes and I can not claim him on my taxes.?
    Thanks

If your son is under 24, full time student, lives with you (except for temporary absence), and he did not provide more than half of his support, you can claim your son as Qualifying Child.

Or if your provided more than half of the support of your son and he did not earn more than $3650, then you can claim him as a Qualifying Relative (if he is not a Qualifying child of anyone else).

There is no income consideration for claiming your college-aged son as long as you provide more than half of his total support, he is a full-time student AND he is under the age of 24.
