I have a Whirlpool dishwasher. It runs but when I open the door, the soap back is sitting, dry, in the dispenser. The dispenser door is open, but the soap is still there, undissolved. Water is getting in, but it ain't workin'. Ideas?

The dispenser door probably stuck until the end of the cycle. It finally worked its way open during the dry part of the cycle. You need to clean it out; disassemble the axle that it rotates on and clean that out. Repair or replace damaged or corroded parts. Ordinary lubricants usually can't be used on these things since the soapy water would simply dissolve the grease.
Thanks, Perito. I'll look for a schematic of that part or just see if it's simple to take it apart. I may just leave the door open for a while to see if that works too. Is there any problem with that solution?
