That hexacyanoferrate (III) ion turns pink or purple in the presence ofions. I don't know for other metals, but we use that property in experiments of rusting iron.
The phenolphtalein only indicates the presence ofions in the solution.
And, it's "hexacyanoferrate(III)". Not "...ferrote" or "ferricyanide" (boy, what an awful name is that?).
