    Supra Hysterectomy
I'm having a laprascopic suprahysterectomy in Jan. I'm 52 and I'm concerned about HRT and what I need to know about hormone therapy. Web sites, other info or personal experience would help me a lot. Thank you.

I had a total hysterectomy at a relatively young age because of a tumor. I read all the literature on HRT but ultimately made my decision after discussing my options, the good, bad and indifferent of HRT, with my Physician. He evaluated all of the risk factors (I had almost none, including a family history) and I decided that HRT was the best route for me.

I started HRT the very day of my surgery and never had a problem, never (obviously) had any of the problems associated with menopause (including hot flashes).

My best friend had the same surgery for the same reason and her Physician, after reviewing the various factors, recommended AGAINST HRT.

I think you have to be well informed but also rely heavily on your Physician.

Good luck! Keep us informed, please.
