Sulfur smell in bathroom when Washing Machine used
There is an awful sulfur smell in our master bathroom when we use the washing machine. You can't smell it in the laundry room only the bathroom. The washer & dryer sit against one wall and on the opposite side of that wall is our tub/shower of our master bathroom. A plumber looked at it and thought the drain hose of the shower went down too far in the drain and was allowing gases to pass into the wall and leak into the bathroom?! Well he moved the hose so it was installed 'correctly'. The smell still happens. Please help! I can't stand to go into the bathroom when we wash clothes!

If you do not get the smell at any of your faucets it seems as though the problem must be with the drainage system.

If you would like to try something I would suggest that you fill your washing machine and then take the hose out of the drain pipe in the wall and pump the water not a couple of 5 gallon plastic buckets in the floor by the washer. If when you finish and you have on odor that will give you an idea of what might be happening.

One thing that could be is that you drain is partially stopped up and the water is rising back into a Lavatory drain and pushing the air pushing the water out of the trap leaving that foul odor to get into the bathroom. Or this could be happening to the tub trap.

Let me know what you find out.
