    Stockholders' Equity
I'm having trouble figuring out how to put this on a balance sheet. 1,000 shares of $100 par, 7 % cumulative, non participating preferred stock and 10,000 shares of $5 par common stock.

Two accounts should be placed in the equity section of the balance sheet as follows:

    Common stock 50,000
    Preferred stock 100,000

I think you have missed a few important disclosures:

    1. Authorized capital for each category
    2. Issued capital for each category
    3. Full description. e.g...
    10,000 common stock $5 par ----------- $50,000
    1,000 7% cumulative non participating stock $100 par ---- $100,000
