Adjusting single moen bath/shower valve in the off position
Replaced cartridge in single moen bath/shower fixture. Question is how do I get the handle in the proper off position?

Which model mixer do you have?

There is a notch in the stem that the handle goes on to. If the notch is at the top side, the cartridge is turned on, turn a half turn and install your handle

Moen valves push in to shut off. If you have hot and cold reversed follow 80k's directions. Remove the handle and turn the stem so the notched side faces up. Good luck, Tom

Not all Moens push Tom. Scald-gard valves rotate to one end to shutoff and the other end of the travel is full hot. Somewhere in between is a comfortable shower. :D

If you have a scald-gard unit, try reversing the cartridge in the body. If you get hot water first then cold at the end of the rotation, (but your handle is correct at shutoff) then the supplies are reversed. I just repaired a professionally installed goof of that type a couple of months ago.
