I need some information on the IUD.
I am having it put in three weeks and
I want some information on it, I have Google it
But you know how it is to find good information,
Wondering if anyone knows a good site.

I am getting it done too and not sure (actually it was going to be my next question)... but I am hesitant on getting the hormonal (progesterone) one because the Depo-Provera (sp?) didn't go well with me (acne & weight gain). They say it's not the same.

J_9... what do you suggest? If you go with the non-hormonal type do you get your "regular" periods? And what are the side-effects of the hormonal replacement ones? Is it similar to the Depo?

The Mirena is very popular these days. It is a hormonal IUD, so it does carry some of the side effects of hormones, but not so much as the depo shot. But carries with it the risk of heavier bleeding and sometimes more discomfort with periods.

Oh the IUD that me and my doctor talked about is going into my arm,

I had the para garud iud for like six months I had very heavy bleeding for three months then nothing for three months so I had it tookin out but everone is different o by the way I don't think it is a hormonal one it was a cooper one ucan have it placed in for ten years one

Hun, that's not an IUD. IUD stands for Intra Uterine Device. An IUD goes into your uterus.

For what its worth brittneymommy,I have an I.U.D, a mirena,and have found very little problems with it..

The doctor inserted it while I was on my period,sounds icky,but the cervics is soft and makes it easier...

She also measured my uterus,before inserting it...

The procedure is a little uncomforable... ( relax your knees!) and I felt a cramp... but the doctor was very professional and it was all over in a few minutes...

I went back 6 weeks later to get the position checked,and I check the string after sex,or every other week.
